Our little BEAR turned one a few weeks ago, and since she is our little bear and LOVES all & every animal, it only made sense to throw a party animal Birthday for her! We decided to have a very small family gathering since she is only 1, and let’s be serious she won’t remember it. I also tried to keep that in mind with the decorations as to not go too crazy..she is only 1 Megan! When coming up with budget friendly ideas, I realized I had storage bins filled with the perfect decorations….TY beanie babies! Kay and I were avid collectors and of course thought they would be worth a fortune one day….not so much but at least they did come in handy again & bonus Caroline is obsessed with them, so I can slowly give them all to her :)! Whenever I have a get together or party at my house, I always try to think of a few things I have that I can plan around or if I buy decorations I save them. It actually really comes in handy and I have saved a lot of money doing it! The cardboard coasters in the pictures below have been used at least at 5 parties at my house :).
For her other decorations, I hunted around on Pinterest and found someone actually makes little party hats for animal figurines…how perfect. I decided those were needed for her cake and the cupcakes I made for the rest of the guests. I got the small animal figurines and hats for the beanie babies at target and the little tiny adorable hats from etsy, along with the gold ONE cake topper. I was planning on making the little hats myself but knew I wouldn’t get to it and the convenience of getting them right to my door was worth the price! I was hoping Caroline would be into the smashing cake thing so I had a mini chocolate cake with vanilla frosting made at Wholefoods (only $12)! For the cupcakes for everyone else, I went with the standard box funfetti cupcakes and icing made right at home…WOW delicious! The flowers I picked up at Trader Joe’s (best flowers-so affordable) and made my own little arrangements.
Lastly, I added some balloons and a little garland from target dollar section and the house was decorated! For food I ordered SNARF’s, bought chips from Costco, boneless buffalo wings from WING STOP and veggies with dips. It was all really good and easy since I didn’t have to cook much. Also, of course had champagne, beer, wine and all sorts of sodas for mix drinks ;)…they do say the 1st B-day is for the adults haha!
Unfortunately Caroline wasn’t into smashing the cake…. only throwing her dinner every other night of the week..typical. She only wanted a bite with a fork then was over it haha. But at least her outfit stayed clean. I can never pass up an excuse to buy Freshly Picked moccasins, they are so adorable, well made and stay on Caroline’s feet! When I came across the zebra print I had to have them (plus they were sale), her jean dress is from Gap (similar) and bow is target, only $1.99. My little embroidered dress is from Nordy’s and now 40% off shop it HERE! Katelyn’s gorg embroidered sweater is also from Nordstrom. It was a great time but so insanely crazy that she is 1, time literally FLEW by! Hope this might help with planning your little’s bday or give you some ideas for the next party you throw!
