Katelyn’s Must-Have Baby Items (That Meg, Luke & Caroline 100% agrees with, pics are the proof)
When you are having your first baby, the list of items that you need can be pretty overwhelming! I remember trying (key word trying) to do my registry and I didn’t even know where to start! Luckily, my sister and bestie Lesley took over per usual and did my registry for me. In hopes to help those soon to be mamas out there that don’t have a sister or Lesley to knock it out for them, here are 8 items I could not live without since Lucas has arrived!
Why I Love It: Not only is it a cute stylish diaper bag, it’s super practical when it comes to the design to help you be as organized as possible. It has various compartments (who knew you would need so much stuff for such a small human when on the go) to easily and quickly find what you need. It also includes a little clutch for the changing pad, diapers, wipes so you can just grab that for a short walk, etc. Lastly, it has straps that allows you to safely hang from your stroller.
Why I Love It: Because it gives my arms a break!! Lucas loves to be moving so this has been our saving grace when he needs to nap for more than 10 minutes or I need to set him down to get something done. He’s also very content in it even if he’s not sleeping. With 5 different settings (car ride, kangaroo, swing, rock-a-bye, wave) and 4 different sounds (rain, fan, ocean, heart), surely there is one motion and sound to sooth your little one.
Why I Love It: Such a great item for awake time for little ones because it allows them to use both their legs and hands. The piano plays music when it is tapped by their little feet and there are 4 toys across the top that are different shapes and materials to grab. Lucas’s favorite is the mirror in the middle to look at himself (hmm wonder where he gets that from?!) and is always a happy little boy when we are playing with this toy.
Why I Love It: Velcro swaddles are the best!! Super easy, super fast and little man loves them. Before I started using these, he was never as cozy and found a way. Also, when it’s the middle of the night and you are exhausted, you can’t mess up with these bc of the simple velcro design – feet in, left side across, right side across and you’re DONE. You can also swaddle them with their arms in or out depending on what your baby likes best.
Why I Love It: Not only are these pacifiers just adorable, they really do the trick when it comes to soothing! Lucas loves to hold and squeeze the little animal – it is a great distraction when he is fussy. Also, they are so easy to find vs a small standalone pacifier which is key when the little one is having a melt down and you need the pacifier right away.
Why I Love It: For someone like myself who hates spending money, I was a little unsure of this item when it was added to my registry. It seemed very expensive but as soon as I started using it, I’ve never thought twice about the price. It is easy to break down, the basinet is great for sleeping and strolling (I take this to my parents for him to sleep), the car seat and basinet pop in and out so easily AND you can face them towards you or away from you. They’ve thought of everything when it comes to this stroller and it is worth every penny!
Why I Love It: Great for so many things!! I use them for about everything..burp clothes, light blanket, cover over stroller/car seat, wipe his eyes (he has clogged tear ducts), swaddles, lay on the floor, sofa, bed, etc. They have a ton of cute designs too 🙂
Why I Love It: The perfect lounger for a newborn baby!!! We use this all the time around the house and it allows him to be with us but hands free. Lucas uses his boppy in the kitchen when I cook, on the table when we eat, in the bathroom when I bath, on our bed when we are lounging…the list goes on and on! We bring this with us to friends house so he has a place to chill. More recently we’ve been using it for tummy time (thanks sister) and it has helped him a lot.
We’d love to hear what baby items you can’t live without. Comment below!
